How Bronze Cemetery Vases Work
A bronze cemetery vase holds fresh or silk flowers at a grave. Most bronze vases for lawn cemeteries are in-ground vases. The vase sits upside down in a protected well inside the granite or concrete base when it is not in use. To use it, you lift it out, turn it over and set it in its socket. A safety chain keeps the vase attached, which helps against loss and theft.
Because the vase stores below the surface, mowers can pass over the grave. That is why many lawn cemeteries allow only in-ground vases. Always check the cemetery rules before you buy.
Vase Styles and Prices
Our bronze vase and ring collection lists these options, each in Black, Dark Brown or Light Brown:
Athens and Tuscan Vases
The Athens vase and Tuscan vase are 4" x 10" bronze vases, each listed at $700.
Vases With Rings
A vase ring is the bronze collar that frames the vase opening in the base. The Tuscan vase with a 7" ring is listed at $1,141 and the Athens vase with an 8" ring at $1,240.
Replacement Vase Rings
Rings are also sold on their own: the 7" ring at $441 and the 8" ring at $540. Vase rings install separately from the plaque.
Replacing a Missing or Damaged Headstone Vase
Vases go missing, dent, or break off their chain. To find a replacement bronze vase for a headstone or grave marker, measure three things: the opening diameter of the socket, the depth of the well, and the height and width of the old vase if you still have it. Take a photo of the socket and the base. Send these to us and we will check which vase and ring fit. If the old vase came from another maker, the socket size decides what fits, so the measurements matter more than the brand.
Adding a Vase to a New Plaque
If you are ordering a new plaque, decide on the vase at the same time. The base must be built with room for the vase well, so the layout of the plaque and the vase are planned together on the proof. Our bronze plaque guide explains the layout options.
Care Tips
Empty old water and dead flowers often, since standing water and plant matter stain bronze. Clean with water, a soft brush and mild soap. Do not use metal brushes or acids.
