Choosing the Perfect Bronze Memorial Plaque

Selecting a bronze memorial plaque is an important decision that honors the memory of a loved one for generations. This guide walks you through every consideration to help you make the right choice.

Step 1: Check Cemetery Regulations

Before selecting a plaque, contact your cemetery to understand their specific requirements. Many cemeteries have rules about marker size, style (flat vs. bevel), material, and whether a granite base is required. Legacy Bronze works with cemeteries nationwide and can help you navigate these regulations.

Step 2: Choose the Right Size

Bronze plaques come in a range of sizes, from compact 8"x4" niche plates to large 44"x14" companion plaques. Individual markers are typically 24"x12" or 24"x14", while companion plaques for two people range from 24"x16" to 44"x14". Consider the cemetery's size requirements and how much text and imagery you want to include.

Step 3: Select Your Design

Legacy Bronze offers thousands of design elements including crosses, flowers, military emblems, Stars of David, angels, nature scenes, and custom artwork. Our designers can create a unique tribute that reflects your loved one's personality, faith, hobbies, and achievements. All design consultations and custom artwork are provided at no additional charge.

Step 4: Personalize the Inscription

The inscription typically includes the name, birth and death dates, and a personal message or epitaph. You may also include military rank, organizational affiliations, or meaningful quotes. Letters as small as 1/4" are available at no extra charge.

Step 5: Choose a Finish

Bronze plaques are available in several finishes including Black, Dark Brown, and Light Brown backgrounds. The raised lettering and artwork are polished bronze, creating a beautiful contrast with the background color.

Step 6: Review and Approve Your Proof

Before casting begins, Legacy Bronze provides a detailed design proof for your approval. This is your opportunity to make any changes to the text, layout, or design elements. Once approved, the plaque is cast at one of our partner U.S. foundries.

Timeline and Delivery

Most bronze plaques are completed within 10 weeks from proof approval. Legacy Bronze offers nationwide shipping and professional installation support to ensure your memorial is perfectly placed.
