Honoring Service With a Bronze Plaque
A military bronze plaque records a life of service in metal that lasts outdoors for generations. Families often add the branch emblem, rank, war or era, unit, and dates of service, along with the name and life dates. Flags, eagles, stars and nautical symbols are common design choices.

What the VA Provides
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs lists its memorial items on its types of headstones, markers and medallions page. Its flat bronze grave marker is 24 inches long and 12 inches wide with a 3/4 inch rise, and its bronze niche marker is 8 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches.
The VA also offers a bronze medallion in small, medium and large sizes. It is inscribed "VETERAN" with the branch of service, and it is made to be fixed to a privately purchased headstone or marker. The VA notes that eligible veterans receive either a government headstone or marker, or the medallion, but not both. Apply with VA Form 40-1330M, as described on the VA page.
Many families choose a private bronze plaque to add more text, art or a photo, and then fix a VA medallion to it. We can leave space for the medallion on the proof.

Getting the Details Right
Have the service record at hand. Branch, rank and dates should match the papers. We check every emblem and line on the proof before the plaque is made. Read the veterans section of our guide for more.
